MENA Newswire, ATLANTA: Mercedes-Benz USA has unveiled the 2027 S-Class Sedan as a major update to its flagship luxury sedan, adding new lighting signatures, a revised cabin technology stack and expanded personalization choices. The automaker said the model introduces an illuminated front grille with three-dimensional chrome star accents, and for the first time offers an illuminated standing Mercedes-Benz star hood ornament, positioning the exterior refresh around brand-identifying design elements.

Lighting is a headline change. Mercedes-Benz said the 2027 S-Class adopts next generation DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps using micro-LED technology, paired with Adaptive High Beam Assist+. The company also highlighted new twin-star headlamp designs intended to improve nighttime confidence, alongside available styling packages including AMG Line and Night packages. A larger grille, new wheel designs and updated detailing are aimed at making the sedan more visually distinctive while retaining the S-Class profile.

Under the hood, Mercedes-Benz USA listed three core powertrains. The S 500 uses a six-cylinder engine with mild-hybrid technology rated at 442 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, with a stated 0 to 60 mph time of 4.3 seconds. The S 580 uses an eight-cylinder engine rated at 530 horsepower and 553 lb-ft, with a stated 0 to 60 mph time of 3.9 seconds. The S 580e plug-in hybrid pairs a six-cylinder system with a combined 576 horsepower and 553 lb-ft, using a 21.96 kWh battery and a stated 0 to 60 mph time of 4.4 seconds.

Chassis and traction features remain central to the model’s positioning. Mercedes-Benz said 4MATIC all-wheel drive is included, along with AIRMATIC air suspension with intelligent dampening as standard and standard 4.5-degree rear-axle steering. The company framed these hardware elements as part of the S-Class balance of comfort and control, with the intent of delivering a composed ride while supporting maneuverability at lower speeds.

    Technology and cabin comfort

Inside, Mercedes-Benz said the 2027 S-Class debuts the Mercedes-Benz Operating System, or MB.OS, as standard, describing it as an integrated supercomputer that unifies vehicle systems and serves as the foundation for MBUX infotainment and MB.DRIVE features. The latest generation MBUX includes a generative AI-enabled MBUX Virtual Assistant, an enhanced Zero Layer interface, navigation provided by Google Maps and MBUX Surround Navigation, with the MBUX Superscreen listed as standard equipment.

Rear occupants receive a dedicated entertainment and productivity setup. Mercedes-Benz USA said the MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System includes two 13.1-inch screens and supports video conferencing from every seat. Up front, the cabin adds a new multifunction steering wheel with rocker and roller controls, while comfort features highlighted by the automaker include heated front seat belts, available Active Ambient Lighting, Digital Vent Control and ENERGIZING COMFORT massage functions.

    Personalization and in-car amenities

Mercedes-Benz is also expanding customization through its MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure program. The company said buyers can choose from more than 150 paint colors and 400 interior colors, alongside new upholsteries and trim options. For audio, the sedan offers a Burmester 3D Surround Sound system, with an optional Burmester High-End 4D Surround Sound System featuring Dolby Atmos.

Connectivity and charging features include wireless charging and two USB-C ports with 100W output, according to Mercedes-Benz USA. On the driver-assistance side, the company said MB.DRIVE and MB.DRIVE ASSIST systems are standard, with available MB.DRIVE ASSIST PLUS, MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST and MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360. Mercedes-Benz said these systems can receive over-the-air updates through the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud.

Mercedes-Benz USA did not release pricing in its initial details and did not provide a specific on-sale date, stating only that the 2027 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Sedan will arrive in dealerships soon. The company positioned the update as a new chapter for the model line, combining revised exterior lighting and branding elements with MB.OS-based infotainment, rear-seat conferencing capability and a wider menu of factory personalization options.
