CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances sent home by Egyptians working abroad amounted to approximately $29.7 billion from January through July 2026. The Central Bank of Egypt reported that this sum increased by 28.1% compared to around $23.2 billion a year earlier. This seven-month growth added roughly $6.5 billion relative to the same period in 2025. These figures reflect funds transferred home by Egyptians employed overseas. The rise from January to July follows the record high recorded for the entire calendar year 2025.

In July alone, remittances totaled about $4.5 billion, marking a 20% increase from roughly $3.8 billion in July 2025. Earlier months also showed year-on-year growth. In January, inflows reached about $3.5 billion compared to $2.9 billion in the same month last year. February’s remittances rose to about $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. Combined, January and February contributed about $7.3 billion to the seven-month total. These two months exceeded their previous year’s combined level by approximately $1.4 billion.
The larger fiscal-year data also indicates increased remittance inflows. Egypt received around $47.3 billion during fiscal 2025/2026, a 29.6% rise from $36.5 billion during the prior fiscal year. In June 2026, about $4.2 billion was received, compared with $3.6 billion in June 2025. This monthly increase was 15.6%. The fiscal year spanned from July 2025 to June 2026, while the latest seven-month figure tracks from January to July 2026. In dollar terms, the total increase over the fiscal year was approximately $10.8 billion.
Remittance inflows demonstrate upward trends across different reporting periods
Data for the calendar year also show higher remittance inflows. In 2025, these payments reached about $41.5 billion, representing a 40.5% increase from roughly $29.6 billion in 2024. This growth equates to around $11.9 billion. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows totaled approximately $22.1 billion. A year earlier, the comparable six-month amount was $17.1 billion, marking a 29.6% increase.
December 2025 saw a monthly record of about $4.0 billion, up 24% from $3.2 billion a year prior. By January 2026, the cumulative fiscal-year remittances had reached $25.6 billion, compared to $20.0 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year. The Central Bank of Egypt later reported about $29.4 billion through February, a 28% increase over roughly $23.0 billion during the same eight-month span. The year-on-year increase for December was around $800 million.
Spring figures continue to boost remittance growth
Throughout spring, the total remittances kept climbing. From July to March of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows reached about $34.9 billion, a 32% rise over the $26.4 billion reported during the same period. By April, this total increased to about $39.2 billion, up 33.2% from $29.4 billion. April alone contributed roughly $4.3 billion, compared with $3.0 billion in April 2025, reflecting a 44% monthly increase or about $1.3 billion.
By May, the fiscal-year remittance total grew to around $43.1 billion, representing a 31.2% rise from $32.8 billion the previous year. Inflows for May reached about $3.9 billion, compared with approximately $3.4 billion in May 2025. The eleven-month total increased by roughly $10.3 billion. After June, the fiscal year ended with a total of $47.3 billion. The calendar year of 2026 saw remittances rise to $29.7 billion in July. All recent comparisons—monthly, calendar-year, and fiscal-year—remain above their respective levels from the previous year.
